Meeting of the Sooke Rotary Club December 14, 2016. Brought to order at 12:15pm, with 22 members in attendance.
 
The meeting commenced with the singing of O Canada led by Roger Temple followed by the invocation from Trevor Colley.
 
John Topolniski welcomed our guest Sam Purdy.
 
John shared the receipt of the thank you from the DARE program for the $1000 contribution given by our club.
The Sooke Community Choir had also forwarded a thank you to the club for the $400 contribution to youth in the choir.
 
John Shared an email he received from Lorna Curtis informing us that for the first time an award for Continuity of Overall Achievement - Highest Achieving District for the past 5 years 2011-2016 was presented. This award is for the District that has achieved great success across all Rotary priorities. This award recognizes the very best performing district in Zone 25 and 26 measured over the past 5 Rotary years.
Our District 5020 is the recipient of this award.
 
The Rotary Bell is now in Taiwan.
 
Literacy Day is Jan 22. Please email Margot if you have any items that are required for a project on that day.
 
Sam Purdy was inducted into our club. John Topolniski welcomed Sam with a brief outline of Sam's many accomplishments. Myrtle, as Sam's sponsor,  presented Sam with his rotary Pin and Sam in turn presented Myrtle with her sponsor pin. The club offered their welcome.
