Whisky Tasting & Fundraising Social Event

On March 31st at 7:00 pm a Virtual Whiskey Tasting social and fundraiser will be jointly hosted by Shelter Point Distillery, one of the oldest and most successful Whiskey Distilleries on Vancouver Island and the Rotary Club of Sooke. Not only will you have the opportunity to be led through the tasting of 5 different whiskies by two representatives of Shelter Point, you will also learn the history of Shelter Point Farm, how the farm operates and how they use the barley grown there. In addition there will be a detailed history of the distillation process and what makes Shelter Point unique. Explanation about the barreling process and the different types of Oak used will shed further light on how their various types of Whisky acquire their respective flavours and aromas.
The cost to participate is $30 per person. Each person will receive five 3/4 ounce expressions of Shelter Point Whiskey in individual vials. The tasting will be conducted via Zoom. Profits from the event will be donated to Amber Academy here in Sooke which empowers youth through artistic education, collaboration and expression.
This event is limited to a maximum of 30 participants so you are asked to register early to guarantee your spot. We are also encouraging any non-Rotarians that you may know that might have interest in participating. You will need to register them as your guests on the event page in ClubRunner. Please include their e-mail addresses if at all possible. Payment for participating is to be done in advance through either the donation button on our clubs webpage or by electron funds transfer to sookerotarydonation@gmail.com. Please indicate that the payment is for the whiskey tasting and list the names of the individuals you are paying for. Should you wish not to participate in the tasting but would like to donate to Amber Academy you may do so throughout the donate button on the electronic funds transfer method mentioned above.
