One of Rotary's most important roles is to communicate clearly, consistently and concisely.

Rotary's organizational goals are broad in nature, the messages Rotary sends must remain on focus. Random uncoordinated communication only creates confusion, misunderstanding and creates havoc, limiting success.  It is critical that others both inside and outside the organization, understand why Rotary exists and what it is trying to accomplish, if Rotary hopes to gain their support.

A few years ago Rotary enlisted marketing experts to help standardize Rotary's communications and branding.  The results were specific recommendations including a new organization logo, new standard colors, and specific theme communication approaches.  But recommending is not enough to both define new standards and expect them to be implemented across such a large mass of clubs worldwide. So like other districts, two years ago, District 7430 formed a 'Public Image Committee'.

Representatives were requested from each club to participate, learn and act as catalyst in implementing these changes.  Lou Bottitta (Allentown Club) was selected to organize this committee, much of the work could be organized remotely via Zoom.  Goals and incentives were established and the core committee began contacting other clubs requesting participation, spreading awareness and requesting a level of compliance in shifting our public icons to the new standards.  Under Lou's guidance, the committee was able to assess club website and Facebook compliance using the new branding and increase district compliance from 35% to 75%.  Thank you, Lou. It was a great success.  There is still work to be done.  The committee is committed and focused on increasing communication effectiveness both inside as well as outside of Rotary.  The first two years were very fruitful.  And now, Lou has decided to retire and move to Florida to spend retirement years in warmer climes.  Amy Sheller (Kutztown Club) has stepped up to take the reins and move the committee forward to the next phase.  Please congratulate Amy (AmyShellerRotary@gmail.com) and thank her for her leadership.  If you have questions or would like to participate just ask.   Stay tuned for the committee goals in taking the P/I to the next level.
