Speaker: Trisha Potts
In June of 2014, Santa Cruz Playground Project Partners went to the Board of Supervisors and asked if they could fundraise the playground portion of a new park in Santa Cruz. They were looking to build a fully inclusive playground, the first in our county. Trish shared a video with us that detailed the work of Shane’s Inspiration. This has been the inspiration of over 100 community-funded parks in California. LEOs Haven will be the first fully inclusive playground in Santa Cruz and will be located mid-county. Trisha has advocated a 0-5 year old play area along with a 5-12 year old play area. It is her hope that parents will also meet other parents at the park dealing with similar challenges. The Playground Project is tasked with raising $1.9M. They hope to raise the money in 2 years and the design portion will take another 6 months. Some of the other partners are: Santa Cruz County, Sunrise Rotary Club, SC Lyons, Kiwanis Club, Shane’s Inspiration, Community Foundation, and private individuals.

Drawing: $1757? Poor Steve—he found the 9 of diamonds. Darn!!

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30am.
