Rotacare
Aug 31, 2016
RotaCare Bay Area Inc. is a non profit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation that provides free medical care to those with the greatest need and the least access to medical care. They resolved to meet the need with a clinic in Santa Clara. That first clinic, located on the former Agnews State Hospital site has since closed but in its place we now have 12 clinics located throughout the greater Bay Area. RotaCare clinics are located in Concord, Daly City, Gilroy, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, Mountain View , Pittsburg,Richmond, San Jose, San Leandro, San Rafael, and Santa Cruz. |

Fall Creek Watershed Video
Jan 04, 2017
Fred says "my wife, Roberta, and I have finished the Fall Creek video that we started in the Spring of 2015. We received an educational grant from the San Lorenzo Valley Water District to make a video about Fall Creek and where the community of Felton gets its water. As we have gotten into the project, more and more mysteries and information have serendipitously emerged. We knew that the community of Felton got its high quality cool water from Fall Creek at the intake pond just below the entrance to Fall Creek state park, but where does Fall Creek get its water? |

California Invention Convention
Jan 18, 2017
This year I had the opportunity to be an interim superintendent/principal in a small school district in Davenport CA. When teaching, years ago, before becoming a principal, I did an invention program with my students that convinced me that by solving a meaningful problem in their own lives, by coming up with an invention for the solution, students became empowered to think divergently, work collaboratively, develop creative thinking skills, and become innovative thinkers. These are the very skills that are needed in our children’s lives to make them successful individuals for the rest of their lives! So, when the opportunity arose, I asked the fifth/sixth grade teacher at Davenport if she would mind if I did an invention program with her students. And so the journey began. Wonderful inventions appeared, in answer to the problems they expressed. The winners went onto a local science fair, as our local county office of education allowed “Inventions” to be included, this year. We would like to send several winners and their families to the National Invention Convention that will take place on May 21, 2016 and will be held at the US Patent and Trade Office in Washington DC http://www.stemie.org/2016-national-invention-convention.html . Won’t you please help in this endeavor? We would like this to be the first effort in helping to bring about a California Invention Convention that will involve many more students throughout the state to become inventors and innovators. We are hoping to raise these funds by April 30, so we will know how many of our students we are able to send to the National Convention. It will be an experience they will never forget. The cost is approximately $2500 per student and chaperone, for airfare, hotel for three nights, and expenses. Thank you for considering helping us with the worthwhile experience for children! |
