Registration is now open for the 2016 District Conference. The conference will be held April 29-May 1, 2016 in San Ramon, CA. The conference will open Friday with lunch at the BlackHawk Automotive Museum. Friday evening through Sunday Morning events will be held at the San Ramon Marriott. Full event details, registration and hotel registration links can be found at http://dc.rotarydistrict5170.org.
Saturday night, April 30 will feature an Interact Talent Competition. Interactors are encouraged to go to www.rotarydistrict5170talentcompetition.com for details on how to enter today. The contest is limited to Interactors in District 5170. Rotarians, please encourage the talented Interactors in your midst to enter the competition!

Lynn Robinson has a new vocation and an eleven-mile daily commute into the mountains of Santa Cruz to Ben Lomond. The UCSC graduate, co-founder of Santa Cruz Neighbors, City of Santa Cruz Councilwoman from 2006 to 2014, former Chairman of the Santa Cruz Metro Board, former member of the Regional Transportation Commission, AMBAG and Monterey Bay Sanctuary Advisory Council — among others — is now the Executive Director of Valley Churches United Missions. |

RotaCare Bay Area Inc. is a non profit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation that provides free medical care to those with the greatest need and the least access to medical care. The organization was formed in 1989 when a local Rotarian, Dr. Mark Campbell and his Campbell Rotary Club identified the need of many local residents who had limited access to primary healthcare services. They resolved to meet the need with a clinic in Santa Clara. That first clinic, located on the former Agnews State Hospital site has since closed but in its place we now have 12 clinics located throughout the greater Bay Area. RotaCare clinics are located in Concord, Daly City, Gilroy, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, Mountain View , Pittsburg,Richmond, San Jose, San Leandro, San Rafael, and Santa Cruz. |

Jeff Calden got a “certificate of advancement” as a going-away present from his students at San Lorenzo Valley Middle School, where he’s been principal for 12 years. “I’m going to high school,” he said. Calden, 48, will move up to San Lorenzo Valley High School, taking over the principalship from Karen van Putten, who is moving up after four years to will work in instructional services at the district office. He was tapped by Superintendent Laurie Bruton. |

RI Council on Legislation

They consider enactments, which change Rotary’s governing documents, and position statements by the RI Board. Ron will update the group on this important function of RI. |
