The Securitarian Personality: What Really Motivates Trump's Base; Why It Matters for Post-Trump Era

 

John R. Hibbing is the Foundation Regents Professor of Political Science at the University of Nebraska.  He has been named a NATO Fellow in Science and a Guggenheim Fellow.  He is author of the recently published The Securitarian Personality: What Really Motivates Trump’s Base and Why It Matters in the Post-Trump Era. In this book, he applied new discoveries in psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral genetics to political science. He focused on understanding the thinking of hardcore Trump supporters and what that means even after Trump is no longer President. His previous works include Stealth Democracy and Predisposed: Liberals, Conservatives, and the Biology of Political Differences.  He has appeared on Star Talk, the Hidden Brain, and The Daily Show.
