November Santa Clara County Transportation Sales Tax Measure
Jul 20, 2016
On June 2 the VTA board will vote on whether to place a 1⁄2 cent transportation sales tax on the ballot for November 8. VTA revenue projections estimate the tax will collect between $6-6.5 billion (2017 dollars), over the 30 year life of the measure. The goal is to address three key areas: fix failing streets and roads, encourage mode shift away from single occupancy vehicles, and provide meaningful countywide traffic relief. Through the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), Envision Silicon Valley sent out a call for transportation projects to all fifteen cities and towns in the Santa Clara County—they received roughly $48 Billion in specific project requests. Since that time, those project lists have been refined and expanded to reflect the following categories: -Streets & Roads
