Club Member Chris Carr will share his experiences with motorcycle touring.

Chris provided the following information:  I am a native to the San Francisco Bay Area, having grown up on the Peninsula. A short-timer by comparison to other Castro Valley residents, we are now in year 19 of living in Castro Valley, and I consider myself “home” when I am here.

I have been riding motorcycles since I was in my adolescence—mostly in secret because my mother hated them and never sanctioned the activity. I bought my first bike when I graduated from UC Berkeley in 1999, but I had been working for a motorcycle touring company for a couple of years prior to that, so I didn’t need to own one!

Since then, I have owned several big bikes, sometimes as many as three at a time, but my lovely wife, Robin, insists that I’m only allowed two at a time. I have been touring for many years and have seen most of the western eleven states from behind the handlebars of a motorcycle. My last long trip was to Death Valley.
