Please join us for our first STRIVE meeting this year. Use Performing Arts Center doors, community room is just inside on the left. Pizza lunch provided. Casual, informal and fun meeting with 10-15 high school seniors in need of some additional motivation. We will discuss what to expect for the upcoming year for the students, learn a little bit more about each other by introducing ourselves as Rotarians and having the students say a little about themselves. If you have not been to a meeting before, ask another Rotarian who has. They are very casual and fun. The only qualifications you need are to be a high school graduate and in your life have made some mistakes from which you have learned some lessons... even better if you are willing to share some of those experiences! Please use the signup list in ClubRunner if you can attend, We need to order pizza for enough people. Thank you.

Today our program will feature Junia Kimizuka-Conniff CNP for Allina Health in Cokato. Junia's hometown is Pirapora, Brazil. Plus she was an inbound Rotary Exchange student! I am very excited to hear her speak. This would be a great opportunity to invite those you feel would enjoy hosting our inbound student for the 2016-2017 school year. |

Camp Enterprise
Dec 03, 2015
Our guest speaker this week will be DC high school senior Betsy Plowman, who will discuss her recent experiences at Rotary's Camp Enterprise. Camp Enterprise is one of twenty-five (25) similar programs held throughout the United States. Each year about 110 juniors and seniors attended camp from over 60 high schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Specifically, students interested in learning more about business, leadership, entrepreneurship, and the free enterprise system in a unique, intensive and fun three day workshop. Camp attendees are about equally divided between males and females. At camp, students are assigned to a team of 7-8 students. Each team also includes a counselor and a mentor. Counselors are college-aged students and, in some cases, past participants in Camp Enterprise. Mentors are professionals and, in many cases, Rotarians. Each team is assigned a case study and tasked with developing a business plan with the goal of making a pitch to potential investors in their companies. In addition to working on the case studies, while at camp students have the opportunity to participate in team-building and leadership activities, network with other students and volunteers, make new friends, and challenge themselves. Among other unique experiences, students have the opportunity to listen to several guest speakers from business or industry who make inspirational and informative presentations on relevant topics. |
