RESCHEDULED FROM FEB 6th MEETING

Join us for a presentation by James Leeper, Alameda County Disaster Services Chair, and San Leandro's own Michael Gregory from the Blood Services team about the many programs the American Red Cross has to PREVENT disasters. This includes "Sound the Alarm," a program that installs fire alarms and educates folks about the danger of house fires.

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. As a non-profit humanitarian organization, part of a global network, the American Red Cross exists to help communities in times of need. The Red Cross provides various services such as immediate disaster relief after home fires and large-scale disasters, community preparedness education,  emergency communication services to military members and families, life-saving blood to patients in hospitals, and many more.

The Red Cross could not accomplish its mission without volunteers. Over 95% of the Red Cross workforce are volunteers, and that is why volunteers are highly needed in all service areas. The presentation will review services the American Red Cross provides to the community, along with ways anyone can join these efforts as a volunteer. No matter what your interest or schedule, there is a volunteer position available! Volunteers are needed in areas such as community education, disaster relief, driving, training, admin, among many others.
