Thank you to Tammy Broderick, John Copeland, Sofia Franciscus, Joel Gechter, Mary Gyorke, Manish Mehta, Stephanie Oliver, Gail Scott, Eric Tindall, Tamra Ward and Phil Zepeda for staffing our three days of charity poker and to Lisa Hudy and Laura Van Steenis for coordinating our volunteers and paperwork. An extra gold star is awarded to Eric Tindall for pulling two shifts on Saturday night.
The good news is that we raised $1703 for our foundation through this effort. The bad news is that the Heidelberg has decided to close their poker room until they can get a suppliers license, a process which will take at least 90 days. This means that we will lose our dates in September and need to find another way to replace that income. This might be time to start planning our golf tournament, the First Annual Phil Zepeda Invitational. If you are interested in chairing this event, please let Keith Krings know.
This week we welcomed PDG Jim Gilmore, John Hammond, Garrett Hyman, Michael Hyman and Dr. "UT" Utibe Effiong. Thank you Scott Nelson for serving as our Greeter on July 31. Tammy Broderick will be our Greeter for our next meeting on August 7.
This week's drawing was won by visiting Rotarian Michael Hyman and sold by Tammy Broderick. Just like the Publisher's Clearing House, next weeks' winner could be you, but you've got to be at our August 7 meeting to purchase your ticket from Keith Krings!
Birthdays, Announcements and Blessed events were read by Stephanie Oliver. We would like to wish a very happy birthday to Scott Nelson and Erika Copeland on August 1 and Claire Zepeda on August 5. We would also like to wish Stephanie and Chris Oliver a happy anniversary and hope they enjoyed a great celebration on August 4. Tamra Ward celebrated a two-year anniversary with our club on August 2.
Next week's B.A.B.Es will be blasted by Tammy Broderick.
We would like to celebrate the birthdays, anniversaries and blessed events of our Rotary family but discovered that we do not have complete information on file for our membership. Scott Nelson provided a brief update on the Butterfly Garden and after some discussion, it was agreed that we will hold our annual meeting in the Garden on September 8. A box lunch will be served and we guarantee that there will be no ants at our picnic.
