What a wonderful time we had at the Butterfly Garden! Thank you to our guest speaker Andrea Klooster for her fabulous presentation on Monarch Butterflies and the privilege of witnessing a butterfly release in our garden. We also would like to thank Tammy Broderick for arranging for our speaker, Peg Windsor for coordinating our delicious luncheon and Mike McManus for his wonderful photographs from the afternoon.

In June 2015, RI President Ravi Ravindran announced a new benefit for Rotarians:  Rotary Global Rewards.  This program aims to boost membership and enhance member satisfaction. It debuted on July 1.

“This innovative new program will allow Rotary members to connect with hundreds of businesses and service providers from around the world -- and that number is growing,” said Ravindran. “These establishments will offer Rotarians discounts and concessions on the everyday business that you do. And, in many cases, not only will you benefit, but our Foundation will as well, by receiving a contribution with each transaction.”

The program will include discounts on car rentals, hotels, dining, and entertainment. Discounts on more products and services from companies worldwide are expected to be added throughout the year.

“It will be another way to benefit from being a Rotarian and being part of the Rotary network,” said Ravindran, whose presidential theme for 2015-16 is Be a Gift to the World. “I urge all of you to become a part of that scheme.”

To enroll in Rotary Rewards and also for the latest in Rotary News, to check your contribution status and for other information, you need to enroll in My Rotary. For step-by-step directions on enrollment in My Rotary, click here

We will be serving dinner for the families at Ronald McDonald House on Saturday, September 26.  We will be serving a salad, entree, side dish, vegetable, bread and butter and dessert for 35 - 40 family members staying at the house in Ann Arbor. We are looking for volunteers:  to volunteer to prepare food, assist with set-up, service or clean-up, please contact brigitte.romero@sbcglobal.net

For those who have committed to providing a portion of the meal, here are some guidelines for your use in planning:

• Please expect to prepare food for 35-40 people. While 35 people may not be in the dining room eating your meal when you are at the House, the others will enjoy the leftovers you put in the community refrigerator when they return later from the hospital.

• Bring the necessary food items with you as we may not have the food you need. No beverages need to be supplied as they are available at our House.

• Please check in at our office upon arrival to meet the manager on duty and request an orientation to find your way around the kitchen. • Coats, purses, and any other personal items should be left in the office area.

• Prepare your meal in our kitchen or bring your meal ready to serve.

• Plan to serve the meal from 6:00-7:00 pm. buffet style.

• Clean-up can begin at 7:00 pm. Any leftover food should be put in plastic storage containers, labeled with the contents and date, and put in the Community Refrigerator.
Hello, Rotarians!

After meeting many of you at the Rotary Leadership Institute in Ann Arbor a few weeks ago, I promised to send out an email with details for the Purple Rose Theatre Rotary Night event that our Chelsea Club is planning for Sept. 26th.  Many have been to the Purple Rose before and love Chelsea because of it.

Our club bought out the entire theater so we could invite local Rotary clubs to enjoy a social night and meet other Rotarians.  Ticket are $65 each, and include appetizers and wine/beer before the show, and coffee with dessert after the show.  If you would like to bring a group of Rotarians from your club to join us, please email me back with your interest and our chairman of the event, Lorna Tackwell, will contact you to collect your information.

Here is a little more about the Purple Rose for those who have never visited:
