Pick-Your-Prize: We are currently recruiting for prizes. Your support here would be greatly appreciated!  Please contact Peg Windsor or Brigitte Romero if you have a prize to add to our Pick Your Prize table. ALSO - we are in need of a chair for this area. Peggy and Brigitte have graciously volunteered to assist with this portion of the evening but a lead person to coordinate all of the details would be appreciated.

The committee meets again on Monday, February 23 at 6:00 pm at the Applebee's on Green Road. Please remember that we're opening up the committee to friends and family who like to plan parties. So that I can plan for your attendance, please email tamra.ward1@gmail.com
We're all carrying little blue tickets for the annual raffle held in conjunction with YOUR FUNdraiser on March 28th at the Holiday Inn. We have 300 tickets to sell and as of this date, here is our progress:

300 Tickets
40 sold as of 2/10/2015

13% of goal - 260 tickets left to sell
Are you ready? The first annual Phil Zepeda Invitational Golf Tournament (May 30) is only 109 days away! The first organizational meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 17 at 6:00 pm in the private dining room in Guy Hollerin's at the Holiday Inn. Remember, that volunteers like to DO things, so invite a potential Rotarian to join the committee and plan the event!  So that we may plan for your attendance, please email matt.copeland@comcast.net. Golfers, non-golfers, stand-up comedians, people who like to drink and Rotarians are welcome.
New to this year's Lost in Space FUNdraiser on March 28th, a Pick Your Prize raffle will replace the Silent Auction. In this fundraiser we will have a table of donated items and it will look quite similar to a Silent Auction table. The difference? Instead of bidding on a specific item, guests can purchase Pick Your Prize tickets and participate in a number of smaller raffles with a chance of winning prizes.

How it works: If we have 50 prizes on our table, there will be a small box or bag next to each item and a raffle is held for 50 items. Guests have the option of increasing their chances of winning by putting several tickets in the raffle of their choice or they can enter into all 50 raffles. Pick Your Prize raffles generate about 33% more revenue than the traditional Silent Auction and are less labor-intensive. Volunteers are freed from the sometimes stressful task of closing the auction table and we all avoid the end-of-evening close, waiting for bidders to come forward to pay for their items or tracking the winners down after the event.

At a pre-determined time in the evening program, raffle tickets will be drawn for each prize and winners will be posted so that the lucky winners can collect their gifts. Tickets for the Pick Your Prize raffle will only be sold at the FUNdraiser and winners must be present to win.

How you can help: We are asking you to solicit items from your friends, family, vendors and businesses you patronize. Raffle request letters are available by emailing tamra.ward1@gmail.com and also at our weekly meetings. We are also looking for volunteers to set up the table and help collect donations.
The Butterfly Garden may be covered under a couple feet of snow, but we wanted to remind you that Spring is just 38 days away. We thank Rotarian Manish Mehta for stopping by to pay his respects to our garden on a cold and snowy day. We need everyone to consider donating some time to the care and maintenance of our Garden this year. Our community needs to see Rotary in Action and a good, sunny Saturday morning spent at Gallup Park in the company of a few good people is a great way to increase our visibility.

At our last board meeting, we discussed offering an annual stipend to a local group to coordinate additional volunteer days in the garden, just like the day with Emerson School high school students that the Good Thyme Garden Club put together. The amount of the stipend and the actual agreement with a local group (hint: for a Good Thyme call...) has yet to be determined and we are seeking volunteers to deliberate this via committee. If you have an interest in the Garden, please consider donating an hour or two to contemplate the future plans for our signature event. We would like to continue this discussion at our February 17 board meeting and will keep you posted on future developments.

STARDATE 28 MARCH 2015: You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You are about to boldly go where no Rotarian has gone before - to Space, the final frontier.

Yeah, I mixed up about five different television shows there but the end result is the same: you are invited to embrace your inner nerd, climb into your space cadet uniform and get LOST IN SPACE at our annual FUNdraiser on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

PLEASE mark your calendars, save the date and invite your friends and family to join us for this year's wild and crazy night of fun and fellowship.

We're pleased to announce that the First Annual Phil Zepeda Invitational will take place on Saturday, May 30, 9:00 am at the Washtenaw Course at the Polo Fields in Ypsilanti. That's only 109 days away! Thanks to Chairs Matt Copeland and Keith Krings for chairing this event which promises to be a day full of fun, fellowship and an exciting new fundraiser for our club.
