Golden Age of Hollywood Update
We're excited about this year's Rotary Foundation Dinner on March 29.  Planning is progressing nicely and Laura is about to close the opportunity for sponsorship.  Do you know of someone who might be interested?   The different sponsor levels are available on the web-site. Deadline for presenting sponsors is Feb. 12th so that the sponsor’s logo can be included on the programs etc.

The Silent Auction is being chaired by Brigitte Romero so if you know of a business or someone who wants to donate either a basket or items for the silent auction please contact Brigitte. People are also needed to help contact businesses and people who have donated in the past.

The lovely little yellow raffle tickets should all be distributed by now or will be arriving at your home soon via the US Postal Service. They are really looking forward to a very short visit with you and then going on to new people to spread their joy and happiness to all. If you would like to sponsor more of the lovely yellow tickets please contact their managers Tammy and Don Broderick.

There will be a Fundraising committee meeting on 2/5/2014 at the Applebee’s on Plymouth RD. at 6pm. Please be there to help make this fundraiser one of the best.

This Week's Happy Dollars
Laura VanSteenis started off giving a dollar for the wonderful time she had driving for meals on wheels with Tammy B., Scott N, and her grandson Daniel.

Manish Mehta announced that the Downtown Rotary club had committed $5000.00 towards project dignity. He also updated the club on the current level of committed funds to project dignity. That level of commitment is $30k. Gail Scott was happy to have won the 50/50 drawing for the 2nd week in a row.

Brigitte Romero gave a happy dollar because she was happy to be back to the club after working/entertaining family members for month and a half. She told us about the Foundation that her son works for in Southern Sudan that is working to educate people about the guinea worm infestation.

Scott Nelson reiterated Laura’s enjoyment of delivering meals with Tammy and Laura’s grandson Daniel. He also learned what the golf ball was for.

Last but not least Sofia Franciscus contributed a happy dollar for the fact that she was really enjoying the cold weather.

This Week's Speaker
Gail Scott took over the program (on a moment’s notice Thank you Gail) and told us about the benefits of the Rotary Leadership Institute classes. These benefits include classes that are open to all Rotarians and the program is inexpensive, dynamic and presented by past/certified leaders in Rotary. Each one day classes is led by a facilitator posing questions to the group in a “what if” scenario with a discussion of possible solutions in a team atmosphere. This is a great way to experience Rotary, the people involved, and the history of Rotary.

One of the topics included in the past was conflict resolution and how to deal with it successfully.  This leadership training provides great resources and networking possibilities. Our Rotary club will pay for tuition to the RLI classes and the dates, times, and locations are available on the web-site.

Phil Z. reminded us that next week we will have Arie Lipski who is a cellist and director of the Ann Arbor Symphony coming in to entertain and tell us about the Ann Arbor symphony. So please come, bring a friend and enjoy the food, the music, and our distinguished guest.

Prez. Keith concluded the meeting with one final happy dollar to thank everyone for staying and helping to make this meeting an enjoyable one for everyone in attendance.
