Morning Star Rotary had the opportunity to tour Thomas Jefferson Elementary School of Bethlehem Area School District last Thursday. Principal Tracey Hirner discussed the beneficial programs the community school offers, as well as the challenges the children face. One such challenge is food insecurity. Kindness is Magic founders, Melissa & Emma Fillman, partnered with area schools to supplement funds for delinquent student lunch debt and to help children have a hot lunch.   They founded their nonprofit after Emma began paying for her school friends that didn’t have any money on their lunch cards. The kindness of this one child exemplifies Rotary's motto People of Action.
