Seward Rotary Club was recognized recently by Rotary District 5650 for our first ever Global Grant project
Seward Rotary Club has been recognized by Rotary District 5650 with the "Award for Excellence" from Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation for its work to support the Bahamas' Rand Memorial Hospital through its first ever Global Grant Project, undertaken in collaboration with the the Rotary Club of Lucaya, Grand Bahama. The Rand Memorial Hospital serves more than 70,000 residents on Grand Bahama and two neighboring islands and more than 600,000 tourists who typically visit the area.

After Hurricane Dorian destroyed the hospital, Seward Rotary, led by Jon and Bonnie Kruse, initiated a successful  Global Grant project that provided more than 30 hospital beds and equipment for the rebuilt Rand Memorial Hospital with more than $85,000 raised in support of this humanitarian project.  Rotary Clubs in Nebraska, Delaware, Flordia, and the Bahamas contributed to this project.  The award was presented at the 2021 Rotary District 5650 Conference in Omaha, with Seward Rotarians Bonnie Kruse, Jon Kruse, and Russ Sommerfeld in attendance.
