Last week's meeting (Sept. 24) was a program by our own Ron Benson, who shared photos and talked about a mission trip to Russia and the Baltic countries. Ron and the group he traveled with visited 28 orphanages, 2 hospitals, and 2 prisons, delivering different supplies with each visit. Throughout the trip, they provided 100 Nebraska-made quilts, school supplies, hygiene items, toys, and 410 books of children's Bible stories. They also purchased about 3/4 ton of fruit for facilities while there, and made other donations to purchase equipment, such as a washer and dryer and medication. Ron said local governments in the region do not provide everything the facilities need to serve their patients/clients. Thank you Ron for sharing this mission story with Rotary.

There is no regular meeting this week, however, below is the signup schedule for our service project at Crete's Great Pumpkin Festival on Sunday, Oct. 6, 12-5 p.m.. We will staff one information booth where festival guests can purchase carnival game tickets and pumpkin vouchers. Our booth will be located near the intersection of 12th and Main Ave. Please consider helping out during one of the three shifts as Crete Rotary has several members with commitments elsewhere during the festival. 3-4 people are needed during each shift.

Footbridge grant project: Before the last bit of rain, Tom Parker had an opportunity for a work project to paint the well casings being used for the bridges. We will continue to work with him on finding an evening or weekend time for more club members to help with this project.
