Our first meeting of the new year last Tuesday (Jan. 7) was a planning session for the upcoming 9th annual Rotary Grocery Grab. The actual grocery grab will be in April at Crete Foodmart for the lucky winner - date TBD. Tickets will be printed and distributed as soon as details are finalized - most likely by the first week in February. Members who wish to sell tickets outside Foodmart on Saturday mornings will be offered the chance to sign up.

Thank you to Jim Fahrnbruch for sending photos of the Rotary International float in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. Photos were shared at the meeting along with a little bit of history on the parade and the Rotary float, which has been a part of the Rose Parade since 1979 and is organized by Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee of volunteers from about 25 Rotary districts.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 15. Program TBD.

For those unfamiliar with the grocery grab fundraiser, here is a quick recap:
- Grand prize winner is able to complete a 5-minute shopping spree in Crete Foodmart with one cart - several rules apply as far as eligible items
- A limit of 1,000 tickets are sold to the public - $10 each or 3 for $25
- The winning ticket is drawn about 10 days before the grocery grab and the winner is notified
- after the event at Foodmart, additional tickets are drawn to win grocery store gift cards in various amounts ($100, $50, $25)
- Event sponsorships are $250 and the business/organization receives one book of tickets (10 tickets) to give away
