Last week's regular meeting (Jan. 15) yielded positive and engaging group discussion on a number of current topics.

Scholarships: The club currently awards 4 - $750 scholarships. A suggestion has been made to increase the award to $1,000 or award a fifth scholarship. This will be further discussed by the club. Other organizations also award scholarships each semester while the Rotary funds are distributed as a one-time award at the beginning of an academic year.

Member recruitment: Several concerns about inviting new members were raised, including: raising awareness about Rotary in the community; knowing how dues are structured and where the money goes; how dues come back to the club through district grants. The Membership Committee will meet to determine whether or not a Business Membership should be pursued.

9th Annual Grocery Grab update:

Peter Clarke confirmed April 18 works best for the Grocery Grab event at Crete Foodmart. The winning ticket will be drawn on April 7.

The next regular meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 21, when we will host Jack Cochnar, Executive Director of the Crete Chamber of Commerce.
