Eight midstate residents, all members of the Harrisburg and Hershey Rotary Clubs recently traveled to Haiti to build, install, and test a water filtration system in Gardere, a remote mountain village in Haiti.

Midstate Rotary Club members and members from the Rotary Club of Verrettes teamed up with Water Project for Haiti for the project.
The project provided residents of the village a major new source for clean, accessible water. Since there is no electricity in the village, the unique water filtration system successfully used in Cambodia was chosen by the Water Project for Haiti team because of its relative ease of construction and low maintenance requirements. The rotary said that the village of Gardere was chosen based on the need for accessible clean water and the valued engagement of an influential Haitian Church of God pastor trusted by the local residents.
