Welcome Home! You’ve just returned from the most exciting experience in your life! It’s good to have you home again.  We hope that your year abroad was exciting and everything you hoped it would be. We at Rotary, along with your family and friends, are anxious to hear all about it.

Returning home not only has the excitement of sharing experiences, but also the realization that nothing stayed the same. You may be facing some difficult times readjusting to the homeland way of life, how everyone has grown, things they have done without you, and the different paths your friends have taken. Let’s not forget about following the rules of the house after you have been independent for a year. You also may be missing the families you left overseas.

Your family is also facing difficult issues. You are not the same person they sent away. They put a high school student on an airplane a year ago, but a mature, older, worldly individual returned. You have different tastes, different styles, and may even look different. You may be resisting the rules of the house since you are more independent. These issues are not a surprise to any of us. We were all prepared for these times before you went away. However, reality has hit.

A Re-Entry Orientation day has been arranged to help all of you through this part of the adjustment process. Counselors will be hosting sessions to address the delicate issues you may be facing. In advance of this session, please complete the attached questionnaire YE313 and have your parents complete the OB529 questionnaire and return to Melissa Bruck (office@rotary7390.org) by July 31st! The questionnaires are used to shape our discussion and agenda at the de-briefing, to enable us to assist both you and your parents, and to improve our program in the future.

This orientation is scheduled for Saturday August 11, 2018 at Dickinson College (Bosler Building) in Carlisle from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Following registration at 8:30 a.m. and light refreshments, the Debriefing will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. You and at least one parent are required to attend. This de-briefing program is a requirement of Rotary International. Furthermore, you will not be allowed to participate in the program, going forward as a Rotex, unless you attend this session. This is the final debt that you owe to a program which has provided you with one of your life’s most incredible experiences. We hope that you will be there AND continue to be active in the program going forward. Coffee, juice and pastry will be provided in the morning with a buffet lunch at noon.

Please RSVP to Melissa Bruck by calling (717) 854-7842 or emailing office@rotary7390.org, with the names of those planning to attend by July 31, 2018. Remember, all students and at least one parent ARE REQUIRED to attend.

We look forward to seeing you and your parents at this very important program. An agenda will be emailed to you prior to the event.  Until that time, enjoy your summer.

Yours in Rotary,
