Horton Hickerson

Horton Hickerson, graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC with a BA degree in Business Administration. After two years as an army artillery officer in Ft. Lewis WA and the Republic of Vietnam, he earned an MS in Accounting from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. His professional career in Public Accounting included working for both large and small accounting firms.

n 1976, Horton started his own firm and is a CPA licensed to practice in Florida, New York, and New Jersey. Horton joined the Rotary Club of Red Bank NJ in 1989. He served both on the Board of Directors, and as the Club Treasurer for many years. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Red Bank Rotary Foundation. In 1994-95 he served as President of the Club and in 1996 he was awarded a Paul Harris from the club. He is now a member of the Ponte Vedra Beach Sunset Rotary Club in Florida. 

At the District level, he served as an Assistant Governor and Deputy Governor, and for four terms he served as District Treasurer. Horton was named District Governor for District 7500 in 2010-11. At the Zone level, Horton has served as Treasurer for Zone 32 for the last four years. For two years, he was a Zone Trainer for the District Governors-Elect and has made presentations at numerous assemblies and district conferences. For many years, Horton has been active as a facilitator at the Mid-Atlantic PETS, and for the Rotary Leadership Institute. In 2014 he was recognized with the “Faculty Member of the Year Award” from the Northeast America Rotary Leadership Institute.

Horton currently lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida with his wife, Susan Goldring. He is a member of the Paul Harris Society, and both Susan and Horton are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation. He spends as much time as he can at their vacation home in Ponte Vedra Beach FL, where on any given day you can find him thoroughly enjoying himself playing mediocre golf.
