Help needed by our friends at Coquitlam Sunrise Rotary and Richmond Sunrise Rotary with loading a Rotary World Help container going to Panglao which is part of the province of Bohol in the Philippines.

Coquitlam Sunrise is the lead funding club for this container.  Coquitlam Sunrise of District 5050 donated $1,500 last year to help fund our Ban Xiengda Water Project in Laos.  Today (Nov 13), Coquitlam Sunrise donated $1,000 to fund 8 water filters for the village of Ban Xiengda and our team of Ladner Rotarians & spouses will be delivering those filters in February 2019.

Richmond Sunrise donated $3,000 a few weeks ago which will fund another (24) water filters for Laos as part of our 2019 trip being made by Diana, Dawn, Chris, Penny & myself as well as Beau & Kathy.

I encourage you to come and meet Preet from Coq Sunrise who was part of our 2018 team who went to Laos.  Also come and meet Elena Agala of the Richmond Sunrise Club who was key in helping us organize our Taste of the Philippines fundraising dinner last year.  You will get to meet Rotarians from our district as well as neighboring Rotary districts.  We typically finish the container loading before noon.  I am sure it will go quickly as Bobby Yagin (Patricia Sibley's son in law) is now the official forklift driver when they do container loading.  So come say hi to Bobby also.

It's a special treat this weekend as Elena will be cooking FIlipino treats for lunch for all the volunteers. Elena will be serving lumpia, pancit and empanadas.  Fruit for dessert will be donated by a Ladner Rotarian.

Each container is loaded with donated medical and/or dental equipment, sometimes school or sports equipment.  The typical value of the goods inside the container is $350,000 and for the price of only the shipping, this container is sent somewhere in the world where this help is needed.

Ladner Rotary is a long time member of Rotary World Help, and this is a great chance to come out and see what goes into a typical container.

Elena Agala is leading a team that will be travel to Panglao early in 2019 and this container is part of that project.

Once we have a few people signed up for this, I can arrange car pooling.
