Please join us at 9am November 30th at the Kakaako Community Garden located just mauka of the UH med school campus, just makai of the Gold Bond building. Metered stalls are available in the area or you can park at SALT across the street and walk over.  It is between Keawe St. and Coral St.  We will finish around noon.

Please be prepared to get a little dirty as we will be sanding and painting recently donated bench seating materials and some gardening if there are enough hands.  Wear closed toed shoes, sunblock, hat, and bring a reusable water bottle full or to refill with provided water to avoid creating waste.  Lunch will be provided.

About the Garden: the 10,000-plus square foot plot is aimed at preventing storm water and trash from running into the ocean.  It is also a demonstration of how we can work towards food security on our island.

The garden is home to a variety of edible, native and water-retentive plants, the first of which were planted in March 2019 by members and community volunteers.

The Surfrider Oahu Foundation and Permablitz Hawaii, an urban gardening cooperative, teamed up over a year ago to transform this public urban lot into an urban agricultural space called an ocean-friendly garden.
