To Rotarians of District 5870 Central Texas:
Wow, what an amazing year we all had!!!!!!!!
Here is a recap of everything we have managed to accomplish this year:
International:
- Global membership is about 1,227,368
- 35,000 + clubs
- TRF celebrated its 100th anniversary
- Only 37 new cases of polio were reported in 2016
- Only 5 new polio cases in 2017
- 100th RI convention in Atlanta was capped off with $1.2 billion dollars in pledges from over 12 countries, the Gates Foundation and other major corporations
Zone:
- 5870 won the best website / PR award
- We won the TRF per capita giving award at $204.20
District 5870:
Sharon & I visited 62 clubs, 2 satalite clubs, 4 Roteract clubs, 13 Interact clubs and 8 EAFK ceremonies. We gave out 3 global grant scholarships, 7 vocational scholarships & presented 1 peace scholar candidate. We hand out an additional 47 banners at a second club visit to those clubs. We attended 19 fundraisers, 24 socials and only put 15,863 miles on my Jeep. I would say we had a good ride!!
Foundation:
- We contributed over $594,000 to TRF
- $229.43 per capita
Public Relations:
- The PR team did a great job this year and we should be a favorite to win the best website / PR zone award again. Don’t forget to keep posting your pictures of your club activities and projects to your club Facebook pages as well as to the districts. #1districtstrong.
Membership:
- We ended the year down only 77. That’s not too bad as I had expected the number to be much higher.
- We lost one club with 22 members in Waco.
- Please give DG Gene your full attention to this area as it will be his highest priority.
This year’s success happened because of all the partnerships we all had and that we all worked well together as a TEAM!
