A first-of-its-kind traveling exhibit showcasing the ultimate sacrifice of military and first responders who’ve died from wounds in the War on Terror since September 11, 2001 until today was at the Marlin City Park Pavilion on Thursday, April 29th through Wednesday, May 5th.
The exhibit is called Remembering Our Fallen Tribute Towers and among the five thousand-plus names and photographs displayed, it featured 793 men and women from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. This national memorial includes those who returned from war with the invisible wounds of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and succumbed to suicide. It recognizes our service men and women who died from training accidents or attacks while stationed stateside or on our overseas bases. This beautiful display was unveiled on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in September 2017 and consists of over 33 Tribute Towers supporting double-sided and full-color banners to withstand the elements, making it possible to be exhibited outdoors as well as indoors. Each Tribute Tower is 10 feet high and 5 feet wide.

Marlin Rotary Club was a part of the collaborative effort that announced the coming of the towers, raised donations to fund their transportation, assisted in tower placement in the Marlin City Park Pavilion, and provided onsite registration and tours. Local and faraway residents visited the tribute memorial; its legacy is that these men and women will be remembered and their names will be spoken, while helping to lessen the grief of their families. The Marlin community has a rich history in supporting our military members. Rotary Club of Marlin says, THANK YOU.”

For more information on the exhibit, to donate or to have a fallen soldier added to the memorial visit RememberingOurFallen.org. Organizers are still asking for help in contacting Gold Star families, to include every single American who has died since 9/11/2001 in The War on Terror. There is no fee to families. They are asked to visit www.RememberingOurFallen.org (opens in a new window) and provide basic information and two photos for their Fallen loved one.
