As we Rotarians roll into September, Rotary International celebrates Basic Education and Literacy Month…..and as I see it, how appropriate since school is starting. District 5870 is very well known for all that we do to support our youth and their education.
From back pack buddies and friends to local and global scholarships, we know the importance that an education can give to a child. Our District has supported local school systems with dictionaries, school supplies, library books, mentoring programs and the like…..but just as importantly, our District has supported the children all over the world with global grants. Through these grants, we have built school buildings and libraries and filled them with library books and teachers. We have provided solar lights as well as latrines for schools so young girls COULD go to school and not be banished because of their monthly period. We as ROTARIANS have made an impact for many years because we had the foresight to meet the needs of not only our local children but for all the children of the world.
Thank you District 5870 Rotarians for your continued support for all the children, near and far.
These children are OUR future as well as OUR legacy.
