District 5870 Ross Baldwin Service Above Self Award - Honoring Our Mentors

 
In keeping with Rotary International's motto of Service Above Self, District
5870 has designated an award as a memorial to the late Ross Baldwin.
For nearly thirty years, Ross volunteered with the Austin Independent
School Districts as a mentor to elementary and middle school students,.
He was passionate about mentoring and encouraging others to
get involved. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Austin-
Oak Hill from 1984-2007, serving as their President in 1993-1994. His
generosity was legendary, giving of his time, compassion, wisdom, and
treasure to those he knew and those he did not know.
The award will recognize a Rotarian, who has demonstrated over time,
service to others through mentoring to children, adults, or other Rotarians
in their community.

District 5870 Francis Waggoner Rotary Family & Friends Award
 

The Frances Waggoner Rotary Family and Friends Award is presented

annually at the District Conference to recognize a spouse, family member,

friend of a Rotarian or a public servant or citizen who exemplifies

the ideals of Rotary, "Service above Self".

 

Purpose: To recognize a family member,

friend, public servant, or citizen who exemplifies

the Ideals of Rotary, "Service above Self".

Selection Criteria:

The nominee must have demonstrated exemplary support and involvement

in the work of Rotary through:

1. Club and District events,

2. Club and District programs, such as hosting exchange students,

participation in Group Study Exchange, RYLA, etc.

3. The Rotary Foundation

4. International Service Programs

As a public servant or citizen, one who has gone above and beyond his/

her duties to benefit humanity. An outstanding school teacher, a person

who is doing outstanding work with the youth in the community, someone

involved with the welfare of the homeless, one who is doing excellent

work with the drug addicts or caring for the elderly, etc.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the candidate must be nominated by:

1. A Club President

2. The District Governor

3. A Past District Governor

Selection:

A completed nomination form must be turned in to the District Governor

two months prior to the District Conference. A committee selected by

the Governor shall review all applications and select a recipient for the

award. Recipient will be invited to the District Conference to receive the

award.
