YOUTH EXCHANGE
 
The matching of outbound Youth Exchange students is now complete and the details have been announced to the participating clubs. For the Rotary year 2018-19 District 7820 will have 11 Clubs in our District participating in the Long Term Exchange Program (LTEP) and one Club (New Glasgow) participating in the Short Term Exchange Program (STEP) pilot with the destination TBA.
 
The Rotary Clubs of St. John’s, St John’s Northwest, Summerside, Charlottetown, Charlottetown Royalty, Hillsborough, Wolfville Mud Creek, Windsor, Dartmouth East and Halifax Harbourside will be sending students away for the experience of a lifetime under the LTEP. They will be travelling to the following countries: New Zealand, Colombia, Italy, Brazil, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Chile, Netherlands and Belgium. New Minas Sunrise is participating in an inbound-only LTEP hosting a student from Nigeria.  
 
ADVENTURES IN CITIZENSHIP
 
This year’s Adventures in Citizenship program in Ottawa will be held from Saturday April 28th to Wednesday May 2nd. Twenty-four (24) students from our District including 18 from NS, 4 from NL and 2 from PEI will attend. That represents an investment of about $30,000 by clubs in our District in developing the citizenship of our young people.
 
The following 23 clubs from District 7820 are sponsoring students to participate in the Adventures in Citizenship program in 2018: Avalon Northeast, Exploits (Grand Falls), Gander, St. John’s Northwest, Bridgewater & District, Dartmouth (2 students), Halifax, Halifax Harbourside, Halifax North West, Kentville, Middleton, Wolfville Mud Creek, New Minas Sunrise, New Waterford, North Sydney, Sydney, Sydney Sunrise, Truro, Westville, Wolfville, Yarmouth, Hillsborough and Summerside. Great news from PEI! The Rotary Club of Charlottetown is in the final stages of chartering a new Rotaract club at UPEI!
 
YOUTH PROGRAM – DISTRICT CONFERENCE
 
Finally, the next big Youth gathering in our District will be at the upcoming District Conference in St. John’s. The Rotaracters will be attending the main conference while the Interacters and Youth Exchange students will be attending their own fantastic Youth Program and selected parts of the main program.
