Rotary International President Ian Risely chose the theme of Rotary: Making A Difference for the 2017-18 Rotary Year . He could have been thinking about the Rotary Club of Summerside and the Inspire Learning Centre project that includes the Rotary Library.

A large crowd was on hand on Monday October 2nd, 2017 as RI President Ian Riseley helped to cut the ribbon to officially open the project.

At the opening ceremony itself Rotary Club of Summerside Rotarian and Project Leader Derek Key acted as Master of Ceremonies with the able assistance of Assistant Governor Heather Matheson. Speakers included representatives of all three levels of government. The audience included many supporters of the project. This project brought an enture community together for a wonderful cause. Club President Gordon Coffin surprised Derek Key with a special award to recognize his central role in the project's success. Congratulations, Derek!

The official ribbon was held by Derek Key and Heather Matheson while RI President Ian Risley, District Governor Don Sword and Summerside Club President Gordon Coffin cut the ribbon.

Congratulations, Rotary Club of Summerside on a tremendous achievement. You have done Rotary on PEI and indeed the District, proud!
