Garth Gordon

Garth Gordon has been a member of the Rotary Club of Kentville since 1986 and in the years since has served the club in many capacities including President in 1991-92.

Garth’s first career was in the Royal Canadian Navy, after which he opted for a career in law. He retired from that profession in 2015 and was looking for a new challenge, and that happened to be when I was building a team for this Rotary Year and needed a District Secretary. How fortunate that Garth agreed the position was the challenge he was looking for.

As I mentioned earlier, Garth has served District 7820 incredibly well this year, putting his expertise to use in updating our governance structure, harmonizing it with RI policies, and providing related assistance to a number of clubs.  Moreover Garth has agreed to fulfill a three year term as District Secretary.

Garth, please accept this symbol of my appreciation for all the wonderful assistance and support you have provided to the District, its clubs, and to me this year.

Louisa Horne
Inspired by her daughter Hannah’s experience as a Youth Exchange student, Louisa Horne joined the Rotary Club of Halifax in 2005 and has been a very active Rotarian ever since. She was President when her club was named Club of the Year, and has led Group Study Exchange and Rotary Friendship Exchange teams on international visits. She currently is our District Trainer, and our District Governor Nominee Designate.
Louisa is Director of the small business consulting practice of the Business Development Bank of Canada, and strongly believes in the exploration of best practices for continuous improvement. She has put her vocational experience and skills into action on behalf of Rotary and with Doug Logan has developed the Training for Leaders of Clubs program now in use in District 7820.

Doug Logan
Doug Logan joined Rotary with the New Glasgow club in 1997. Since then he has served his club and the District in many capacities, including as District Governor in 2008-09.  As Governor he oversaw the implementation of the District’s current governance structure and led the development of a District Strategic Plan. On numerous occasions he has provided support to Clubs on leadership and governance issues.

Doug has over thirty years’ experience in leadership and management and has authored two books dealing with innovation and organizational change. Teaming with Louisa he has used his skills for the benefit of the District in developing the training for Leaders of Clubs Program.

Louisa and Doug, please accept these expressions of our gratitude for your extraordinary commitment to the preparation of our future leaders in District 7820.
