DISTRICT GOVERNOR NEWSLETTER ~ JUNE
My articles for the District Newsletter have focussed on Rotary and the designated themes for each month. I have avoided writing about myself and my role. However, as this is my final article as District Governor I can’t resist any longer. It’s been a Blast!!!

It has been an honour to serve District 9930 as your Governor. An experience that will stay with me forever. The opportunity to meet Rotarians in the environment of their own Clubs and to view the projects undertaken throughout the District have been the highlight of my year.

In addition to my Club visits, there were events that have featured. The opening of Rotary’s new market at Kuirau Park in Rotorua, the Rotary Youth Exchange students’ de-brief day, the RYLA graduation, and of course our recent District Conference.

As Rotarians, we have a lot to be proud of.  I am always impressed by the commitment members give to their communities - week in and week out. However, we must remember that we are volunteers, and family and personal wellbeing come first. With that in mind, Wendy and I are looking forward to spending more time with our family, especially our seven grandchildren.

We have been the recipients of wonderful generosity and made many new friends over the past three years. We look forward to maintaining this close bond that Rotary brings to our lives.

By the way, this is Rotary Fellowship Month, one of the core values of Rotary. Fellowships provide the opportunity to share a common interest in recreational activities and to explore new opportunities to expand our reach. There is no time like now to explore the one hundred fellowships ranging from sports and hobbies to professional interests.
