RI President Holger Knaack Monthly Message

In Rotary, 23 February is our anniversary, and February is also the month when we focus on promoting peace. There is a reason for this: Contributing to peace and international understanding has been a high priority for us since our earliest days.

Here is further proof that in Rotary, we prefer action to words. This is Rotary at its best. I encourage you to visit rppi.ch to explore the projects and support them.

We have lasted 116 years because of our strong ethics, our passion for Service Above Self, and our unique approach to problem-solving. One of our greatest strengths is how we reach across our communities and across national, ethnic, religious, and political divisions to unite people of all backgrounds and to help others. This month, let’s celebrate our history and the many ways that Rotary Opens Opportunities to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace, our ultimate mission.

District Governor Lisle Chase Monthly Message

Fellow Rotarians and the family of Rotary. Here we are seven months into our year, having learned new virtual skills and come to the realization that virtual meetings are here to stay.

The buzz words or phrases such as “north star”, “pivot”, and “Zoom fatigue”, have been spent and we are settled into the reality of what is now - normal. You have survived, as have I and we are conscious that COVID-19 is here to stay. It is up to us how we adapt and stay safe.

This month, we emphasize Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution. In recognition of this, our Peace committee is hosting a virtual District meeting on February 23rd, in honour of Rotary’s 116th Birthday.

As you all know by now, the 2021 District Conference will be virtual, but it will be really exciting and well worth your time. Please ensure that your club registers at District 7030 Conference 2021 – Saint Lucia.

Stay safe and stay tuned as we provide more information on the District level activities.

Rotary-Rotaract Mentor Programme

What better way to give back to the community and develop the youth than through a District 7030 Mentorship programme.  In this initial phase several Rotaractors have reached out to indicate interest in receiving knowledge transfer, guidance, motivation and mentorship across several fields of expertise.

If you have time please see message from PDG Lara Quentrall-Thomas on how you can get involved and become a mentor today.

Launch of Rotary Works

Zones 33 & 34 presents Rotary Works, an initiative which offers professional resources, guidance and financial assistance to Rotarians and Rotaractors in career transition.

With a series of webinars and one and one coaching already planned for 2021, this initiative is designed to give Rotatarians sustained business success and skills to flourish in their careers.

This is an opportunity for Rotarians to get involved and offer their skills to help build the programme as well as for others who could benefit from the programs being offered.

For anyone interested in scheduling a 10-15 minute presentation on Rotary Works at an upcoming district or club event, contact Susan Courter.

Follow and share the Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram pages, and find information on the Rotary.Works website.

Did You Know...

  • The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary International. It is a non-profit that is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Foundation who share its vision of a better world. Its sole mission is to support the efforts of Rotarians through Rotary’s mission, and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national and international humanitarian and educational programs in your back yard and around the globe. Thank you for supporting The Rotary Foundation and its work..
  • Rotary is excited to share about a new online tool that will give individuals another powerful means to raise the funds necessary to support the Foundation. Rotary's new peer-to-peer fundraising platform, Raise for Rotary, is now live! Raise for Rotary is easy to use – even on your mobile device – and a fun way to create a personalized virtual fundraiser to share with your friends and family, and gain support for your favorite Rotary cause. You can set up a fundraiser for any occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary, or to mark an important event like World Polio Day. Or you can take on an individual challenge to raise funds, such as a bike ride, or fundraise as part of a team of people raising money for the same cause.
  • As some clubs begin a return to the new normal, the ability to still include a streaming option for those unable to attend meetings will add value to a member’s club experience. It will allow members, young and old, to participate in club meetings even if they are physically unable to attend for whatever reason. Technology might even open up a new membership type for your club with virtual classifications. If anything, this could be an invaluable retention tool for those members teetering on the edge of leaving Rotary. So, while it may be some time until all Rotarians are comfortable with attending "in-person" Rotary meetings like we have always had, clubs are considering alternative solutions that not only allow us to connect, but also, allow us to engage. Enter hybrid meetings… This type of meeting combines the benefits of in-person and virtual interactions so that each event can reach its highest potential.
  • You can not only participate in Professional Development Courses via the Rotary Learning Center, but also, have access to an ever-increasing number of training and learning tools for all things Rotary.
  • The new issue of the "Rotary" magazine (formerly "The Rotarian") is out. Subscribe to the digital version now to receive it regularly and on time each month via email.
