WELLNESS REPORT
MaryJo Fenyn gave us an update on Suzie Earl, who is now living at Parkwood Heights in Macedon.  Suzie is having an Eye operation for Glaucoma next Thursday.  When she has recovered she would like to join MaryJo and attend a Rotary meeting.
Bob Bendix reported on the death of Lee Prong.  Calling hours will be Saturday in East Rochester.  This summer they will hold a celebration of Life. Watch for details.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Linda Werts explained the Global Grant in which we are partnering with Suleyman from Turkey.  We are contributing to a pediatric endoscopy unit for a Cancer Hospital in Istanbul.  Our commitment is $4000.
We are also involved in an online fund raiser for the water project in Tabi Mexico.  The auction opens on January 26th at 8:00AM and closes February 4th at 6:00PM. Bid High and bid often!  Linda and other volunteers will be going to Mexico after Easter in April.
Foundation Chair, Fred Hicks reported that only 32 members have sent in their annual gift to the foundation.  We have collected $7000 so far.
 
BREIF BIO - RUSS HARRIS
Russ was born and grew up in Hamburg. Through combined credits from MCC, RIT, and SUNY Albany, he acquired an Associates degree. A lengthy and varied work history brought him to his position as Wayne Central Schools network technician, retiring in 2014.  Russ and his wife Marianne have one son and 2 grandchildren.  Russ has been on the Newark H.S. board of education for 17 years with 2 to go!  With a hobby in amateur radio, Russ is active in MARS - military auxiliary radio systems.and a member in Wayne and Ontario county radio amateur civil emergency service.  
 
We are lucky to have Russ to help our Zoomers join us each week!
 
HAPPY MOMENTS
Scott Healy was happy to have visited Disney World last week.  The temps were in the 70s and 80s.  He was able to find a Bills Bar to watch last weeks game.  The trip involved 15 family members from the ages of 2 to 82!  It was fun but he is glad to be home.
 
Speaking of the Bills, President Melissa enjoyed her stop at the old Newark Diner - now located in Buffalo.  She and other fans at the meeting paid a fine on behalf of the Bills.

Kevin Mooney was happy to announce the arrival of their first granddaughter.
 
Adam O. is a good friend of the Bills punter.  After last weeks game he is feeling a little bored.  Too bad for him, good for us!
 
 
 
SPEAKER - KEVIN BERRY
Dave Johnson is proud to be a member of our clubs DEI committee and proud to introduce Kevin Berry from the ARC of Wayne.  Kevin has a degree in Communications and works with the consumers of ARC to obtain employment.  Kevin explained how employment is a part of Inclusion.”  He helps his people to get jobs above the minimum pay.  Positions include Shredding, Printing, the cafe at Erie Shore landing, IEC food service, lawn care and janitorial positions.  Karen Quartaro verified that Newark Rotary could partner with ARC as does Wegmans.  
 
There is presently a movement to change laws to allow sub-minimum wages for people with disabilities.
 
We can all help the special needs people of our community to lead happy productive lives.
 
 
Our next meeting is February 3rd.  This is an open meeting with some awards to be presented.  The greeter is Josh McCrossen.  Cashier is Michele McManus and words of inspiration from Jean Bendix
