The U.S. Constitution requires each state to redraw the boundaries of voting districts for Representatives to Congress, State Senator, and State Assembly Representative every 10 years after completion of the census. The districts are expected to be of the same size; the changes in the boundaries of the districts are made to accommodate shifts in the population, which have occurred during the previous 10 years. This process is called redistricting. The boundaries of the districts will determine how you are represented at the state and federal levels. When these districts are drawn to benefit a particular group or political party, it is called gerrymandering.
Join League of Women Voters WI Executive Director Deb Cronmiller & and Fair Maps WI Organizer Carlene Bechen for a virtual presentation on the importance of ending the practice of gerrymandering and achieving fair maps in Wisconsin.
