Thumbs Cookies
Sep. 22, 2016
Robyn is a successful local (Hopkins-Grad) Entrepreneur you simply must get to know! If you don't know her by now, that is! Here's her cookie story: One of my most treasured memories as a little girl growing up in Minneapolis was baking with my mom. My mom, Barb, is the original Thumb-maker. I used to watch her roll this cookie dough into perfect little circles and finish each one with her perfect thumbprint – and I wanted to do it just like her. At first, I wasn’t so good. But I kept practicing. Find her on Facebook and www.ThumbsCookies.com *** Fun Fact: Robyn was an official Oscar Mayer Weinermobile Driver back in the day and she's soon to be driving her very own Thumbsmobile!!!

"Business Fits" How to find the right business for you...
Sep. 29, 2016
Terry Oliver Lee is a semi-retired business and franchise consultant. Through his decades-long experience in business as a consultant to business-owners and as a coach for individuals looking for or starting a business, he has developed wisdom and particular pointers he'll share with us on selecting a business that "fits" you. The better the business fits you, the greater chance you'll have to succeed. Excerpt Below From Terry's Website: www.businessfits.com ..... I wrote Business Fits because after years as an entrepreneur, small businessman, consultant, and coach, I realized many entrepreneurs were not prepared for starting a business. They often picked a business for the wrong reasons. I knew of no other book that addressed this issue. Most people select a business based on their perception of a product or service. They may have prior experience in the business. They may think the business would be fun, like turning a hobby into a business. They may have a perception of demand for the business based on their personal tastes. This is what I call an Outside-In approach, which can lead you down the wrong path. Many new businesses fail because the owner was not properly prepared to market and operate the business. We don’t know what we don’t know. Business Fits briefly addresses all aspects of running a business. I discuss how a business makes money, and why some businesses are destined to fail. I also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of new independent startups, buying an existing business, franchises, and other business opportunities.

My Rotary Journey
Oct. 20, 2016
Woodrow "Wooj" Byun received a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship from his hometown Rotary Club in Busan, Korea in 1990. With this simple gesture, they created the path for Byun to become an American student, lawyer, global citizen, and a Rotarian himself. From that moment on, Byun was committed to Rotary’s motto of “service above self.” Originally joining Rotary as a way to pay back his scholarship, he quickly embraced the organization’s giving spirit, freely donating his time and talents to help make the world a better place. In Wooj's book, My Rotary Journey, he details how he tutored a group of elderly Korean immigrants so they could pass the US citizenship test, organized a concert by a disabled Korean pianist to inspire a boy with the same handicap, wrote multiple books to help Koreans in the United States understand the legal system, helped an adopted American woman find her birth mother in Korea, and was a tireless cheerleader for Rotary locally, nationally, and internationally by serving as president of the Rotary Club in Edina, Minnesota. Text above taken from Wooj's website: www.myrotaryjourney.com |

Musical Performance
Oct. 27, 2016
The Hopkins Choral program, under the leadership of Director Philip Brown, has a reputation for greatness, as singers have seen their hard work pay off with top accolades at festivals and highest honors at competitions. Mr. Brown has led the choirs for the past 10 years, nearly all of which have seen the same impressive results at the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) competition and tours such as Festival Disney in Florida. Our Club has enjoyed their performances for many years. We are thrilled to have the A Capella Groups: Geoff (men) and Midori (women) share their gift of song with Hopkins Rotary once again. |
