The Rotary Club of Edina has formed a new committee to advance racial equity in the group.
Chaired by Sylvester Thomas and Jennifer Bennerotte, the committee has already set several goals, including:
  • Host a Prospective Member Day targeted to people of color in the third quarter of the 2020-2021 Rotary year.
  • Assist the Programming Committee in finding speakers to talk about racial equity on a regular basis.
  • Assist the Community Service – Local Funding Committee in finding worthy non-profits serving people of color and encouraging them to apply for grants from the Edina Rotary Foundation.
  • Increase the number of Black members in the club by +1 by June 30, 2021.
  • Increase the number of members of color in the club by +1 by June 30, 2021.
  • Add a person of color to the club’s Board of Directors by July 1, 2021.
