Help Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP) pack food bags for local school children who go hungry over the weekends during the school year.

See details below. . .

Rotarians in Area 3 helped establish this food program several years ago and have regularly helped pack backs of food to be discretely distributed at schools to those in need before the weekend. This past year was difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but clubs were able to find enough volunteers to pack bags once a month during two shifts, so many children and families were served in spite of the COVID-19 restrictions. VEAP plans to bring the program back for the 2021-2022 school year using volunteers twice a month from September through June with two shifts on each date.

The Rotary Club of Edina has been asked to kick off the 2021-2022 program by packing bags in September. Four or five volunteers are needed 2:15-3:35 p.m. and another group is needed 3:45-5:15 p.m. each of those dates. Please sign up for one or more shifts if you are able to serve in this way!

For more information, contact Past President Jennifer Bennerotte, 612-201-3467 or jbennerotte@EdinaRotary.org. If the program continues, our club will likely pack bags again in February and June 2022.
