The Eden Prairie Noon Rotary Club is excited to announce the start of our STRIVE program, helped by our esteemed Rotarian Kim Ross, who is a mentor for this program.

STRIVE is a Rotary sponsored mentoring program for high potential students who face college and career planning obstacles. Kim’s first mentee was Elli. Kim offered suggesting and support and listening for Ellie. Kim met with Ellie a few times a year.  She taught Ellie an important lesson of always having a plan and encouraging her to apply to State schools even when Ellie only desired out of state education. When the out of state plan did not work out for Ellie, she did not lose out as she had taken Kim’s advice to heart. Ellie is now attending a Minnesota college and doing very well.

Strive at Eden Prairie High School is unique in that there is an individual mentor for each student. Rotarians like Kim meet with their mentees one Friday morning a month, and two lunches during the school year with year-end celebration.

“Every kid is just one caring adult away from being a success story”, says John Shipp, Strive founder.
