October 1st, the meeting started off with Holly Callen presenting John Kohner with his Rotary Foundation Paul Society certificate. John has agreed to donate at least $1,000 each year to Rotary International to support the charitable and humanitarian efforts of the foundation around the world. Thanks so much John!

We also had the honor of having Nancy Hughes, founder of StoveTeam, speak to the Noon Rotary about StoveTeam International. Her inspiration for creating the ecocina stove was during a volunteer trip in Guatemala with the medical team. The number of burned patients the medical team helped struck her.  The Ecocina stoves have reduced burns, respiratory, eye and skin problems. They also reduce wood use by over 50% and particulate matter by 86%.

The Noon Rotary was lucky to have Nancy speak to us. If you would like additional information or would like to get involved you can visit StoveTeam’s website at www.stoveteam.org.
