This weeks meeting combined dinner, meeting friends and Rotarians with the Club Assembly. Visitors from Germany and Canada joined us as we raised our glasses to toast another Rotary club - this time to Rotary 1 - the very first Rotary Club. We also welcomed a new member to Rotary and applauded as Radka was presented with a Rotary Pin as the newest member of RC Prague International.
The weekly collection for charity has been accumulating and we sent $2000 to the Rotary Foundation to help good causes.
It's election time once again and we have two candidates for the position of Chairman of the club: Sanan Phutrakul and Petr Smejcky have agreed to stand for election which will be held in the coming weeks. The positions of Treasurer and Club Secretary will also be vacant in the next round and members are very welcome to submit their names as candidates.
Petr Smejcky gave an update on the preparations for the Dragon Boat racing which will take place on the 30th May 2015 - now is the time to enter a team!
The Indian Meals Fundraiser has gone from strength to strength the total which will be sent to India to help schoolchildren with their education is now a staggering $3200 - well done to everyone who helped and in particular to Gerry Tipple who masterminded the entire operation.
And finally... Dr Engelbert Quack, visiting form RC Heidelberg Neckar in Germany, held a short speech about the workings of his club and the town of Heidelberg with its historic University.
Good company, good food, good conversation made a great evening.
