STAR Rotary organized a Goodwill Donation Drive on May 17, 2017. On that day 4235 pounds of cloting, small household items and electronics were collected and donated to Goodwill. This donation also raised $600 for the club's general funds and future project expenses. |

Silicon Valley STAR rotarians donated one hundred and sixty-seven pounds of food and five hundred dollars to Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose, CA to help feed the needy families in our community.

STAR Rotary worked with EMQ Faimiles First to help children and families in need. Our members purchased board games, art supplies, MP3 players and backpacks for children and families undergoing therapy. Our members got together and delivered the items to EMQ on June 5th, 2012.

We will have a volunteering event at RAFT on Saturday. Remember to register on the website. We discussed about how to advance with our international project idea. Aydin, Dilek Z and Inci will prepare a brief proposal for the next week. Neslihan will verify Rotary compliance. Red badge projects were discussed, our newest members will be assigned a club project of their choice; and they will attend a district event. Mine is in communication with EMQ for our local project. Their response is enthusiastic. We will invite one of their leaders to our meeting as a speaker in March. Dilek Z suggested having a wine tasting night as a social event. |

Our president, Sevtap, visited two chapters of Sparks program in Izmir and Duzce in Turkey. She talked about her observations about the program and the participants. Later we discussed about how to proceed with our international project involving Sparks.

Rotary Scholar Ambassador Toby Futter visited our club and talked about his home country New Zealand, and his studies at Stanford University.

Our members collected ~$200 worth of food for Second Harvest Food Bank. STAR Rotary Club will match the total amount and donate all collected and matched food to SHFB.

We had four guests on our club meeting on August 4.

Our club members hosted a booth at the Turkish Art & Culture Festival on Saturday July 30 and Sunday Julay 31. We provided information about Turkey & Rotary to interested visitors and sold small pieces of jewelry for fundraising. In total we raised ~$600 for our projects in Silicon Valley & Turkey. |

Our club will host a stand at the 14th Annual California Turkish Arts & Culture Festival on July 30-31 in Monterey. |

Our next Table For 8 dinner will be hosted by our member Mrs. Dilek Zafar and her spouse Mr. Naeem Zafar. Please join us for an authentic Turkish culinary experience on Saturday June 11.

Our club was recognized with the third place in attendance among all the district clubs with under 50 members. As club members we attended several different sessions and increased our understanding of Rotary. The lunch was very pleasant. Some of the Los Altos Evening Rotary Club members joined us at our table. As being two of the only few evening clubs in the area, we hope to bring our clubs together sometime soon. Chris Finn, the keynote speaker inspired us by sharing his great story. Everything starts with a dream... All you need is to take an action... You are able! Many thanks to Aydin Balkan, Aylin Demirci, Dilek Zafar, Gurol Oncel, Jan Oncel, Seval Aksu, Sevtap Agabay-Isik for taking their time to represent our club. |
