The OKC Midtown Rotary Club will soon provide 50 drums for students at Prairie Queen Elementary School and textbooks for a guitar class at Northwest Classen High School, the club’s president has announced.

Each year, Rotary District 5750 invites its clubs to apply for grants that will have a large impact on their local communities. While the district contributes the majority of funds required, each club must provide the remaining portion of the costs associated with each grant project.

Midtown Rotary uses funds raised through their annual Spelling Bee(r) event to determine how many grants they submit to the district for consideration.

With the grants, the club will purchase and deliver 50 drums, at just under $4,000, to Prairie Queen Elementary School. They will also fund $1054.73 worth of guitar textbooks for Northwest Classen High School.
