LAST WEDNESDAY
Support for Ukraine

Oksana Tjupa, Charter President RC of Kyiv International

On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, marking a steep escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which had begun in Feb/ Mar 2014 (when Russia had invaded and subsequently Annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine). The invasion has caused Europe's largest refugee crisis since World War II, with more than 6.4 million Ukrainians fleeing the country and a third of the population displaced. (Wikipedia)

Heavy daily/ nightly bombings destroying critical infrastructure prompted many to flee the cities under threat.

The work carried out by RC Kyiv in cooperation with the Government and other volunteer organisations has been nothing short of amazing!
The Rotary Foundation has been generous with financial support, as have Rotary clubs from all over the world.

Oksana thanked all Australians for the support we have provided and asked us all to continue financial support so that humanitarian aid can continue to flow through to those in need.
