Savants of the Universe, a Brief History of the Meter and the Dollar
Have you purchased a lottery ticket recently? If so, you probably parted with a couple of pictures of George Washington in hopes of winning several pictures of Benjamin Franklin. To fully break with England, the US needed its own monetary system. How did the dollar get its start? The metric system is used by all scientists and most of the world to measure physical quantities. How did that happen? This brief talk will explore these questions, the savants who conceived the meter and the dollar, and the surprising connection between the two.
