The struggle of bringing Rotary back to China

Rotary in China grew from the charter of the first club in Shanghai in 1919 to 33 Rotary Clubs in 1949. By mid 1952 the last of the 33 clubs closed down and Rotary was absent in China until in 1996 a small group of Rotarians from Hong Kong and Taiwan took cautious steps to bring Rotary back. After a long struggle with numerous set-backs,  the Rotary Clubs of Beijing and Shanghai received their official charters in 2007. 

Rtn Thorsten Amann was involved in the initial 5 years of this process and he will share his memories on the challenges of bringing Rotary back to China after a period of absence of more than 50 years.
