Background:

Artificial Intelligence will lead to a fast disruption in many industries. Especially in medicine, large amounts of data and images hold a huge potential for AI to change current workflows. Diagnostic medicine, like radiology and pathology will be one of the first field for AI-algorithms to enter the field. While the last decades were characterized by fast developments of hardware (like MRI or CT scanner), the next years will show fast development of software algorithms which provide better quantifications and data about the individual patient.

About Prof. Dr. med. Wieland Sommer

Wieland Sommer has been working as a professor in radiology at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. He is also the founder of a fast-growing healthcare company, Smart Reporting GmbH, which is bringing artificial intelligence into the workflow in medicine. He holds a master in Public Health from the Harvard University and has been elected by the magazine “Capital” as one of “Top 40 below 40”.
