On Thursday evening last week the Peninsula Voice hosted an open public forum aimed at highlighting the social issue of loneliness and isolation and providing real life community based interaction. The theme of the evening was “ Connecting Communities “ .
The forum was held at in the Peninsula Community Theatre on Wilsons Road.
The evening saw a dozen Mornington Peninsula Community and Volunteer Organizations attend in which they all provided hands on interaction in the form of one on one advise and an array of literature highlighting the services that can offer as part of an integrated community involvement.
The Rotary Club of Mornington was represented by John Renowden and Brian Mann.
Three high profile gust speakers, Dr Michelle Lim, Chair of the Australian Coalition to End Loneliness Scientific Advisory Committee, Rebecca Lee, Senior Advisor from Beyond Blue and Tim Costello, A leading Voice on Social Justice, attended the forum and each presented a very informative and thought-provoking exposition on the subject of loneliness and isolation.
The forum was very well attended with an audience of some 220 members of the public
