We are manning a drink station on the Arthurs Seat Challenge. Details are

The Arthurs Seat Challenge (ASC) is a 6.7km fun run + walk held annually on the Mornington Peninsula, starting in Rosebud and finishing in the Seawinds Gardens at Arthurs Seat on Sunday 10 November 2019. Last year they  had nearly 1,300 entrants, and this year are aiming for 1,500, with a total of about 2,000 people in attendance (including volunteers, sponsors, and spectators).

Schools, community groups, and local businesses support the ASC, which is held to promote the profile of the Fit to Drive program and to raise funds to enable the continuation of this invaluable program. Fit to Drive focuses on the behaviour and responsibilities of young drivers, and is dedicated to reducing road trauma in young people aged 16 to 25. The Fit to Drive program is currently provided to our local secondary schools free of charge, thanks to the funds raised by the ASC, and we hope to be able to continue to do so into the future.

This year they  have added an extra water station to the course, on Bayview Rd (as per the map in the attached Position Description, and they  need a team of 6- 8 people to run it. You would need to arrive at the Rosebud Primary School at 7.30am to receive your volunteer lanyards and sign in, and then head around to the water station.  The race starts at 8.30am and it won’t be long before the entrants start to come past. Once the last entrants have passed (you will know this as they will be followed by the Traffica vehicle) you can then pack up and those who want to make their way up to the finish line can do so (they’ll have to drive the back way, via Jetty Rd and Browns Rd, as the road will be closed that the entrants are running on).

It’s a great opportunity for Mornington Rotary Club to be involved in this community event as a group.  You are welcome to have your banners/signs at the water station and if you also want to have a marquee at the finish line (Seawinds Gardens, Arthurs Seat) I’d just need a copy of your public liability insurance and I’d work out a position for you to put it up where you can hand out brochures and share information.  The race finishes at 10.30am but the activities, stage, food etc continue on until 11.30am, so pack down wouldn’t occur until 11.30am.

Each volunteer receives a free pass to the Arthurs Seat Eagle and Enchanted Adventure Garden, plus if they come up to the finish line on the day after they have packed up, they can also receive free BBQ.
